"God of Transformation" Lee Min Ho "Legend of the Blue Sea" No-Exit Genius' Trap - 20.12.2016


[OSEN = Reporter Kang Seo Jeong] SBS Wednesday-Thursday Drama "Legend of the Blue Sea" has shown the male lead Lee Min Ho's way of attracting viewers without any exit. He has been able to show various transformations, evolving from one character to another. He can transform from a lawyer, to an 'Idiot' and as a con-artist named Heo Jun Jae, Lee Min Ho has been able to show his charm on each character.

The Wednesday-Thursday SBS Drama "Legend of the Blue Sea" (Written by Park Ji Eun / Directed by Jin Hyuk / Culture Depot of South Korea / Production House Studio Dragon) itself is a fantasy romance filled with laughter and fun. The drama also have unpredictable events as the very last mermaid on the planet will meet the con-artist and will have trouble adapting to the human life, There will be a connection tying their past that will cross over to the future as the story unfold. The story line was promised to give the audience a brand new experience. The story revolves now around Heo Jun Jae (Lee Min Ho) and let's look on his charms that has trapped viewers in a captivating way.
◆ Heo Jun Jae's Trap No.1 : The evolving God of Transformation. Heo Jun Jae is the kind of person who can transform into different person with different personality and job whenever he wanted to start a scheme. With his various clothes from Pilot Uniform to Doctor, and with his garage filled with a police car, ambulance, taxi and perhaps another vehicles. There are various characters that indeed Jun Jae can transformed into. The best and perhaps viewer's favorite is when he transformed to "William Choi" who seems to be naive and innocent, coming from the United States. He seems naive but is actually sharp, showed on episode 6. Heo Jun Jae showed details when transform into William Choi, who returned to South Korea after 10 years. In particular, William Choi's "Disgusting Shit" has became a hot topic online. On the broadcast of episode 9 and 10, Heo Jun Jae transform "Kim Jae Yi", which is slightly different from William Choi. Viewer's expectation on his character introduction in the future is increasing.

◆ Heo Jun Jae's Trap No.2: Cute Drunk "Dog Nam Doo" Alike!

One of the interesting scene viewers saw on "Legend of he Blue Sea" is on the 10th episode where Sim Chung (Jeon Ji Hyun) had her first drinking lesson and experience. Heo Jun Jae, who claimed that Jo Nam Doo's (Lee Hee Jun) nickname was "Dog Nam Doo" taught him how to drink, but then was embarrassed on Nam Doo's acts when he was drunk. It turns out that Heo Jun Jun Jae was no different, and could not really handle drinking. Heo Jun Jae was caught off guard to sleep in Sim Chung's arms and he hugs her, and had to go to the bathroom non-stop early in the morning.

However, Lee Min Ho's delicate yet realistic drunken performance shone in this scene. With his big eyes, pronunciation while getting drunk with alcohol immediately couldn't be an easy scene. But he finished it with charms when he hug Sim Chung.

◆ Heo Jun Jae's Trap No.3 : Became Clueless when seeing Sim Chung! Hopefully you can be a public servant!

The concept of "What Chung wants and understand" for Heo Jun Jae as a certified Public Servants somehow leaving audience excited.

Heo Jun Jae is somehow a "Tsundere", a person who's cold on the outside but yet warm on the inside. He pretended to not care about Sim Chung, but thinking of her the most from the behind. It's obvious that Heo Jun Jae feels nervous, uneasy if he does no see her in front of him. If Sim Chung was feeling sick, he will go in a rush to where Sim Chung is, even forgetting his own sickness. He will go rushing and will do anything for Sim Chung, even treating and cooking Sim Chung to pasta which she likes.

Heo Jun Jae who's a "Tsundere", couldn't say directly that Sim Chung is pretty due to being shy, but then sneaks behind and smiles when he saw her photos on his cell phone, admitting that she was indeed pretty. His happy face, he couldn't hide it anymore as he muttered to himself "Pretty~"

◆ Heo Jun Jae's Trap No.4 : A Man with a story he has yet to know.

Heo Jun Jae is a man with a somehow sad family, separated from his mother when he was a kid. However, when he grow up, he knew that he was a genius which major in Brain Science at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology). Not to mention having the visual that made women excited, but living apart after running away from his father and step mother's house.

In the 9th episode, Heo Jun Jae has shortly met his father after a long time, but yet he still can't bear the pain and handle the opened wound on his heart. He cries like a kid, telling Sim Chung on how he felt towards his father. He told Sim Chung "I graduate from high school alone, taking tests alone to go to college, go to college alone, i do hate him but i wanted to see him~" He later said while crying. This side of Heo Jun Jae, covered with perfection was enough to somehow stimulate the feelings of female viewers to listen to his stories and feelings. / kangsj@osen.co.kr
